SunAndMoon is built to need as little of your data as possible. This page explains what happens when you use the site, including how cookies and advertising work if they are switched on.
Everything is computed in your browser
Every sunrise, sunset, golden hour and moon time you see on SunAndMoon is calculated locally on your device with an open source astronomy library (SunCalc). The cities you search for and the dates you pick are not sent to a server to work out those times, because the site is a set of static pages with no application server behind it.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
SunAndMoon does not require an account and does not sell your data. Like most websites, this site may use cookies and similar technology for basic analytics, to understand which pages are useful, and to show third-party display advertising that helps keep the site free. Advertising partners can set their own cookies or use comparable technology on your device to show ads and to measure how well they perform.
If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you will be shown a consent banner and asked to accept or decline non-essential cookies before any are set, in line with GDPR and UK GDPR. You can decline and keep using the site normally.
No accounts
There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to. The site never asks for a username, password or payment details.
Hosting
The static pages are served by Vercel, our hosting provider. Like any web host, Vercel processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address) to deliver the pages and protect the platform. You can read more in Vercel's privacy policy. We do not receive or store that data ourselves.
